The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) in Adelaide provides a wide range of metabolomic analyses from global fingerprinting to fully targeted metabolite analysis. AWRI has a platform designed to detect metabolites from several chemical classes and sample matrices.  It is committed to developing and providing analyses on a broad range of biological species, with particular expertise in microbial organisms, volatile secondary metabolites, sensometabolomics and the food and beverage industry.

The AWRI facility offers:

  • Metabolomics analysis using LC, GC and high-resolution mass spectrometry in combination with advanced data handling techniques
  • Methods development for targeted and non-targeted analysis of volatile and non-volatile metabolites
  • Bio-prospecting
  • High resolution, accurate mass measurement
  • Multivariate data analysis and visualization of results

Applications include:

  • Detecting and characterizing perturbation in metabolism
  • Discrimination and classification of phenotypes
  • Identification of quality markers for plant and animal breeding and food and beverage production
  • Identifying unique biomarkers for human health and disease
  • Annotation of gene function
  • Environmental toxicology and chemical risk assessment
